Run a short admissions session

A free 30-minute plan for a teacher or counsellor. Use it with the student pack and family organiser. No student data needs to be collected.

Choose one route that fits your class. Open its current official notice. Check the programme, year, category and any corrections. Do not announce an unconfirmed date.

Keep the session safe

Use invented marks for demonstrations. Do not project a student's result card, identity paper or application. Do not take a class list for marketing.

Tell the class if the school or speaker is paid by a service mentioned in the session. A sponsor cannot choose the advice.

A 30-minute session plan

First 10 minutes: explain the steps

Result → eligibility check → application → selection → payment and joining. Explain that passing MDCAT is not a seat offer.

Show the difference between the official notice and our explanation. Ask a student to point to the year and programme.

Next 10 minutes: practise one task

Use the family organiser. Ask each student to write one official source and one question to check at home. Give the sheet back to the student; do not collect it.

Demonstrate the calculator with invented values. Explain an unknown cost and why it must not be entered as zero.

Last 10 minutes: check understanding

  • Where will you check the correct deadline?
  • Who keeps your password and submits the form?
  • Which cost or document must your family confirm?

Discuss answers in the language students understand best. If you cannot verify an answer, say so and check the authority.

After the session

Keep only a broad attendance total and non-identifying questions. Do not record names, marks, categories or personal stories. Check reported errors before reusing the pack.

A general question the next version should answer:
