Taking MDCAT and applying for a college seat are separate steps.
Start with the official university for your route. Read its notice for the correct year and programme. MBBS and BDS may need separate applications. NUMS has its own test and admission route.
Step 1: check the rules for taking MDCAT
Use the current registration notice and your conducting university’s instructions. Check whether you can register with your present qualification or while awaiting your HSSC result.
The HSSC percentage below is a college-admission requirement. For test registration, follow the MDCAT registration notice.
If you are waiting for results, ask the registration help desk:
- Can I register with a pending result?
- Which qualification and result details should I enter?
- When and how can I update those details?
- What must I show before entering the exam?
Do not guess or enter false marks. For exam-entry documents, use the admit-card guide and test-day checklist.
Step 2: check the rules for a college seat
PMDC’s FAQs list three basic admission requirements:
- Pass MDCAT.
- Hold a recognised HSSC or equivalent qualification, with 60% or a higher notified percentage.
- Pass Biology and Chemistry, plus Physics or Mathematics.
Also check the domicile, seat-category evidence and documents required by your admission route.
Previous session: the UHS public-college admission notice for 2025–26 required 60% in HSSC or equivalent. It also specified MDCAT pass marks of 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS. Do not assume its accepted test years, dates or requirements stay the same for 2026–27.
Check the current notice before paying an application fee. If official pages disagree, ask the admission authority which dated notice applies to you. Save its reply.
Step 3: understand your aggregate
An aggregate is your combined admission score. PMDC’s FAQs give this formula:
50% MDCAT + 40% HSSC/FSc + 10% SSC/Matric
Use our aggregate calculator, then confirm the formula for your own route. The calculator uses the current national MDCAT total. It is not a NUMS calculator.
Past merit data can help you compare options. Closing merit changes with the applicants and seats available each year.
A-Level and overseas applicants
An IBCC equivalence certificate converts an accepted qualification to its Pakistani equivalent. Check the required science subjects, marks and submission deadline. Do not use an informal online grade conversion as your certificate.
The UHS 2025–26 prospectus required IBCC equivalence for equivalent qualifications. Use the current admission policy to check what applies to you now.
A-Level study does not automatically make you eligible for an overseas seat. Nationality, residence, place of study and seat category can matter. If you are considering an alternative to MDCAT for a reserved seat, get the authority’s current written requirements before booking a test.
Before you decide
Write down your programme, admission authority, session and seat category. Then check:
- Required HSSC percentage and subjects.
- Accepted MDCAT test and year.
- Domicile and category documents.
- Equivalence requirements, if applicable.
- Application and payment deadlines.
- Any age, repeat-attempt or other rule in that route’s current policy.
If you have just received your HSSC result, calculate your percentage and check next steps. If you are ready to apply, start with the admissions hub.
